Chilliwack River and Lake Cultus

Monday September 1 was a public holiday for Labour Day here in Vancouver, and for most in the house, the last day of 'summer holidays' before school started again. It was a gorgeous day and consensus at breakfast was that we had to "do something" after a week of paper chasing and 'set up' shopping. Freddy had been bugging most people for the best part of that week to go to Chilliwack with him and so we decided to indulge and suggest we go today. Excited, Freddy started packing the car with the three giant tire inner tubes that were kicking around in the back yard and filled a cooler with ice and soft drink. Ears pricked up around the house as to what we were up to and soon it turned into a two car load road trip. We first headed out to Chilliwack River to do some tubing, however the water was so freezing that everyone had one go each and it was back to the shore to sun bake. Unfortunately I missed out due to my banged up toe not being able to get wet, but it was fun watching everyone shivering, pretending that the water was lovely and warm! Freddy knew another place further down the road where the water may be a little warmer, so we decided to jump back in the car and head out to Cultus Lake. Cultus Lake was absolutely gorgeous and the water much warmer (so I'm told). We spent the rest of the afternoon lazing in the sun, floating in the inner tubes and people watching. On the way back home we picked up a boot load of vegies from one of the farms we had passed on the way there.

At Chilliwack River. Klebber (with his head chopped off! - a Brazilian friend of Freddy's), Lara, Freddy (how you doin'?), Tovah and Rhiannon.

Matty - just chillin'...

Tovah, floating by...

The gang, when we arrived at Lake Cultus. Freddy, Tovah, Matt, Rhiannon, Lara, Danniela (Klebber's girlfriend), Klebber and Tim (in the background between Matt and Rhi)

Cultus Lake and the boardwalk system that extends from the beach. People just swim around and under it, or climb over it! The little sections are like different swimming holes and get deeper the further out you go. Fun!

Couldn't resist! So chubby! That kept me entertained while everyone else was swimming because they spent at least an hour trying to co ordinate paddles and still got no where!

The gang again, just before we left to go back home.
